And you think I'm ready to make nice?!

by Poetically Speaking   May 14, 2006

Do you think I'm ready to make nice?
While there's this burden breaking my back.
If you still hate me for my wrongs,
just know I tried, so cut me some slack.

I don't have any more words for you,
so don't come looking around.
If you think I have something to sell you,
be wise, back down.

Things aren't the way they were before,
even though I tried,
And in this dark time of being apart,
there's something I've come to realize.

I have a job that I must do,
and I guess there's just no room for you.
Like I told you back then, as I cried out my soul;
I'll love you forever,
But you just refuse to know.

And I once put trust in you,
and asked that you safegaurd my will.
Now you think I'm ready to make nice,
while you still refuse to let me heal?!?

Fine, just as the moon sleeps on a dark night,
always present shining it's light,
I won't return to you, and I won't again try.
So now that you know,
you better not cry.

Just turn around and one day,
in the shadows left behind,
you'll remember there was this one soldier who loved you;
but remember that you were too blind.

    This was profound and I can really feel for you. I like the simplicity of the words in the midst of the sadness

    You might want to lose the first question mark as both sentences connect together.

    while you still refuse to let me heal?!?
    ^^^^
    The extra punctuation makes it feel more like a rant and vent. It might be but it makes the poem have less impact.

    Congrats on using punctuation! I've read too many poems where there weren't any and this just made it stronger. The poem in itself was heartfelt and emotional. You have some nice imagery mixed in with more like a narative to create an exqual balance.
