Black heart

by barbara   May 24, 2006

Her heart is solid and black
from her many suppressed sorrows
she hears complaints about what she lacks
but she tries to have good morals

She wishes she could have a life
like in all of the fairytale books
where she would grow up, become a wife
and blossom with beautiful looks

sadly however this will never come true
for she'll be gone way before then
she will remember very few
who might miss her now and again

Thank heavens for these very few
who are special and give her reason for life
without them she not have been anew
and she would be friends with her knife!

she looks to people and acts like a fool
hoping someday someone will notice
she seeks nothing, not the need to be cool
she wishes only for acceptance

a helping hand a shoulder to cry on
anything at all to help her
as she sits alone out on her lawn
knowing she only grows darker

no matter how hard she tries
she's miserable every day
although she begins to run and fight
she still can't find away

so she pretends and hides in her black heart
pretending like it will all go away
she silent and simply plays her part
as her soul and her life fades away
