Sophie

by Amy   Feb 17, 2004

Sophie was a little girl
around the age of five
active and full of joy
she loved to be alive

But Sophie lead a double life
and no one even knew
all the things she dealt with
all the things that she went through

One life was filled with joy
where she skipped
and jumped and played
a normal little girl
loving every day

The other was a nightmare
that never seemed to end
Sophie didn't understand
Too young to comprehend

She didn't know
why daddy hit her
or why mummy had went away
all she knew
was that she cried
almost every day

Every single night
she'd hear footsteps in the hall
she'd hide beneath the covers
pray her name he wouldn't call

She stared with frightened eyes
as he stepped into the room
she felt closed in
trapped within her tomb

Sophie begged and pleaded
with quiet, silent eyes
but he took no notice
of her tearful, mournful cries

He raised his hand above
then struck her tear streaked face
she cried out in pain
why am i stuck in this place?

he had hit her
so many times before
but this was different
she fell to the floor

There he left her
Quiet and alone
Where she softly cried
While he talked on the phone

Sophie opened the window
And stood out on the ledge
Stared into the night
And took a deep breath

Mummy I'm coming
To be with you
Whispered Sophie
I can be an angel too

don't blame daddy
Its not his fault
He did his best
He just couldn't cope

And so Sophie let go
And fell through the air
Hoping shed wake up
And mummy would be there

Now Sophie's an angel
Living in the sky
Surrounded by love
Shes happy that she died
