Hot Summer Day

by Jessica   Jun 4, 2006

On that long ago
Summer vacation
We lay in the emerald grass
As the golden sun
Softly touched our faces

The delicate air
Swirled around us
Bringing with it the
Exquisite smell of roses

The sapphire sky looked down
At the pair of love struck lovers
Intertwined in the sparkling grass
With only beautiful smells,
Warm sunlight,
And their undying love,
To cover them..

As they made gentle love
The butterflies hovered
Stunned by the beauty,
The perfectness
Of these two people..

And after so many years
Their souls were finally free
Awakened by each other
Joined, completed, and intertwined
On that hot summers day..

Hm, that was totally awesome I really liked it, I don't usually read poems that don't rhyme cuz they lose their flow but you did a wonderful job in keeping a rhythm that pulls the readier along
    Great Job

Beautiful imagery and word choice. A very calm, enjoyable poem. Though you can still work on the flow.
