End of the Line (Free Verse)

by EmptyEyes   Jun 5, 2006

You can see him sitting where the ocean just barely reaches.
Where the land and sea both touch and mix with the sand.
Pulls you in and then spits you back out.
It's been the same for that one man,
Who thought the beauty of the bodies of the oceans and stars where fused,
Into that one girl that made his prayers seem to go through
And reach the gods of the heaven.

He spent hours drowning in her eyes.
Days in her embrace.
Imprisoned by her words for months.
And everything came crashing down that one day,
So he's been suffering and has only been expecting the pain to never end.

True love he believes he's found.
Only death would do them apart.
And death it was.

A bullet through her chest.
A sacrifice only acted out of pure thoughtless reaction.
A heart making the moves, its last and final moves.
And she takes her final breath and saves it,
To say only three last words,
that the man will never forget.

And he sits there
Near the edge.
Wanting and wishing that his life would end.
And many times, he had the chance, the opportunity,
To end the life he's been regretting.
But if he did, he would let the sacrifice go to waste.
And for her, he lived even though he cant feel his heart pace.
