That Little Girl

I was starting to remember
A time way back when
I was just a little girl
Never needing to pretend

I was dreaming of a yesterday
Many years ago
When a little girl could smile and play
When I was still in control

I was thinking of an ancient past
One that was like a dream
When a little girl would never cry
And inside she'd never scream

And I just sat there
Dreaming again
Of a life without this pain
Wishing that one-day I could be,
That little girl again
