The Yearbook

by Jessica   Jun 11, 2006

Faces of many kinds
Lay scattered across the pages
All of them unique
Never to be alike..

As I look at each one
My memory
Fills in the blanks
Every face
Has a past
Every face
Made a difference
And every face
Will be remembered
By me..

No matter where they are from
Or who their parents are
No matter what they look like
Or where they grew up
No matter what language they speak
Or what food they eat
These people will forever
Be special to me..

As I look at these scattered pictures
Filling the pages with color
And dreams..
My eyes start to water
And my nose starts to run
These people are my friends
And these pages
Hold the memories
Of our time together..

As I turn each page
Something jumps out at me
And reminds me of a
Amusing, distressing,
Or enjoyable time..
These pictures each
Can say a thousand words..
Each one holds so much worth
And so much happiness..

Faces of many kinds
Lay scattered across the pages
All of them unique
Never to be alike..

Ending with the start was a very good touch, I thought it wrapped the poem up quite nicely. The second stanza was my favorite, because it had a lot of short lines that sort of made a quick, cascading rhythm.

This is a poem that I'm sure a lot of people can relate to.
