The Ocean Carried Me

by Casey   Jun 12, 2006

Have you been to the deepest parts of the ocean

In hopes of finding treasure

Just to reach the surface

Without fulfilling this pleasure

With the sun warm upon your face

Gasping for air

Not sure which pain is worse

Barely breathing or your hearts despair

I have been to the deepest parts of the ocean

And I was sure I had found treasure

But somewhere in the current

You and I were lost forever

I took the plunge

Time after time

In search of missing riches

To again find what was mine

Each time reaching the surface

With a burning in my chest

My heart still yearning

My mind unable to rest

I must have swam for miles

And tasted salt for years

But the ocean waters carried me

They washed away my tears

I never found you again

I was never again able to hold such pleasure

You sunk back into the ocean unfound

Which is why youll forever be my treasure

Omg brilliant! I love how you compared all these feelings to a treasure in the ocean. Beautiful comparisons! Wonderful poem!
