The Price I Have Paid

by Casey   Apr 17, 2007

A cold stare
Vanish...
Your existence into cold air
Best friends?
I knew you since you were two
Always by my side
Things changed as you grew
Learned what it was like
To run free and be wild
Doing grown things
When your still just a child
But there was nothing I could say
To make you see
The damage you were doing
Or the pain you caused me
Never around
For any of my calls
You weren't there making me laugh
When I was ready to fall
I cant believe the obvious
How things can just bust
We were so close
Now I just cant trust
Anything you say
How our bond is real?
I didn't want to be around you
You come and go as you feel
Ive offered you life
Something better
A place to be safe
Your carried away like a feather
Into the gusting wind
Into older boys beds
Giving them your body
Not using your head
They didn't care
But neither do you
You just crave the attention
It makes you feel new
I got old
I make you tired
Because I respect myself
I hold myself higher
I didn't drink
Just so I can fall
But somehow I am always there
To answer your call
Listening to your voice
I no longer know
Because you've lost your innocence
And my friend this shows
I cant bare
Watching you change
Ill step into the background
Let my silence sustain
You only know what you had
Sadly when its lost
No one can put a price
Real friendship has no cost
