This Is The Life

by Denise Butler   Jun 13, 2006

Hearts falling in a downward spiral
Crashing with a deafening strike
True love gone in a flash
This is the life

Words with hidden meaning
Splintering a spirit with dreadful spite
Nothing left but a trembling mass
This is the life

Dreams unfulfilled , lightning quick
Scars formed from lock jawed bite
Standing in earth shattering silence
This is the life

Panic hitting unchartered waters
Pressure building to dizzying heights
Wonder what tomorrow will bring
This is the life

Whose turn is it now?
Cowering away from the fight
Time to turn off the lights
This is the life

Medicinal support calms the fury
Wreaking havoc inward strife
Injecting confidence cc by cc
This is the life

Demons carrying crying soul
Tales to be told by campfire light
Place to be determined at later date
This is the life

This is the life
Of timeless faces at play
Strung out in various stages
Come see me another day

Well done! I usually don't like repitition within a poem, but you worked it nicely in this. I hardly noticed.
Each stanza brought forth new and fascinating images. So many different emotions, just wow!
Take care and keep it up~Holly
