Storm

by Samantha Compton   Jun 20, 2006

Broken hearted lies
Flutter through my mind,
Though I search for hours,
No pity do I find.
The flowers mock me,
With petals of life,
The lightning forks into my soul
Giving energy to my strife.
Misunderstood,
I rise to my feet.
My dreams all lie scattered
In bitter defeat.
The storm outside
Is steadily growing,
As I will it toward me
And urge the wind to keep blowing.
Each clap of thunder resounds
Inside of my mind,
Destroying this life
Which has made me so blind.
It grows stronger still,
And with one flash of light,
I stretch out my hands,
And call back the night.
As darkness swallows me
Beauty is gone,
And as rain drenches life,
I see the fate I have drawn.
