Like a Rose

by BlueEyedMystery   Jun 29, 2006

Petals so delicate,
Fragrance so sweet,
Blows in the wind,
Provides pollen for bees.

It's given as presents,
It's a symbol of love,
It's beauty amazes,
It can be seen up above.

But even though it's beautiful,
And spreads joy to many,
It has sharp little thorns,
That can hurt us plenty.

Every good has some bad,
It's the way life goes,
We have to carry on,
Living life like a rose.

I love the comparison of life to a rose. It was a clever concept, and you've written it beautifully.

    "Provides pollen for the bees."

I would suggest dropping 'the' from that line, as it feels maybe one too many syllables, but that wouldn't make much difference.

I can't find fault other than that, and that's hardly a problem. Really, an excellent poem. x

I didn't particularly like this poem until the very last line. It was kind of like, oh cliche, boring, but the last sentence absolutly changed the entire poem for me. Great job!

Very nice, but your attempt to rhyme sweet and bees was a little off.
