For the Soldiers

You may not know where your going
or what may happen next
but you keep on going
& hope for the best
all we have is hope
& all we can do is pray
that our soldiers will make it through
& we will see them again someday

Days will go by with no word from you
but we'll try & keep our spirits up
it's really all we can do
I wish we knew more
& that we could understand
as to why we have to fight for freedom
if it means losing a man

War brings pain & tears
& all we can do is try to mend
while the soldiers face what we fear
you should all know
that not just anyone can do what you do
because it takes strength to keep fighting
& while we wait & hope you come back
remember that you're all doing us a favour
by continuing with the courage that we lack

You should feel proud
no matter what the outcome
because no matter how far you may be
both our skies have turned grey
& the day that it turns blue again
is the day we know that your ok

Although we can't be sure
why it has to be this way
just remember that your loved ones
want you to come home
because it's your presence that they crave
& one thing is for sure
you are all truely brave
