Misconceptions

by Francesca   Jul 16, 2006

Darling little child, are you listening to me?
What is it that you cannot see?
Look into the mirror, into your own eyes.
Your head is filled with misconceptions, lies.

Who ever said you must be the same?
In order to reach popularity and fame?
Who made these rules,
that are now taught in schools?

Who said skinny is right?
Now every girl holds her stomach tight.
And as she eats she does quietly note,
her disgusting fat will be gone when she sticks her finger down her throat.

Who said in order to have a love of your own,
You must give yourself to strangers unknown?
Girls everywhere now have a child,
Because of just one night where they went wild.

I bet it was a cocieted hunk,
who said he would only talk to a girl when she was drunk,
The bottle of wine touches her toungue,
And her whole body begins to go numb.

And why with the obsession with drugs?
What happened to the days when all you needed were hugs.
All she cares about is getting stoned or high,
Turning to her boyfriend for her supply.

Dear little child, can you now see?
Look into your eyes, and tell me what you see.
Do you see a girl with hopes and dreams?
That will one day know what it means,
To be a real person, a real girl.
Who maybe will let the truth unfurl.
Never stop loving yourself,
One day I did, and look what I did to myself.
