Fading Away {Ottava Rima}

by Natalie   Jul 17, 2006

Can you see me slowly fading away,
My presence drifting into the distance?
The tears I've cried no longer display,
The pain that I feel through all the silence.
My mouth is sewn shut so words cannot spray,
Of what is trapped inside of my conscience.
Would you rather have me slip down and fall,
Or should I never say goodbye at all?

Can you feel all of the pain that I feel,
The throbbing ache that is within my mind?
Are you aware of what my lies reveal,
Or have you now become completely blind?
All of my truth to you seems too unreal,
And that's why you don't try to dig and find.
Will you reach deep and force it out of me,
Or are you just going to leave me be?

Can you hear of this help that I crave for,
As I am screaming it towards your ears?
Begging and crawling all over the floor,
Still reaching for your hand while I'm in tears.
Being pushed back; I can't take anymore,
Rejection is one of my biggest fears.
Save me from who you have made me become,
Because you know that you're not the victim.

  • Wow, Natalie this was good!! I have never read a Ottava Rima so it was kinda fun for me to see a different style of poetry!! The rhyming and flow were good didnt seemed to be forced at all!! It was so full of emotion!!! I loved the 1st stanza

Ottava Rima is hard to pull off without sounding forced, and you acheived it! This poem was rather great, just the sheer emotion and power put into the piece made it great. Whoever can pull off an Ottava Rima deserves a ten out of five. Keep on penning!
