Born With an Illness (Hope)

by LadyPearl   Jul 23, 2006

There's a sun that's inside of my soul my heart
There's a life inside all the numbness within
I tried to hide from what was falling apart
But facts cannot deny that I'm withering in

There's a song that I've tried to write...
Over again but it would not come my way
There's tears that's been hidden in the night
Where I realize there's not much time to stay

I needed a miracle to wake me from this dream
I needed help yet I refused all other hands
Prayed every night, over and over without any means
Just wanting something for me to depend

Waking to the sound of life all around me
And the morning sun warming my tender skin
Birds chirping carelessly all about the trees
Then I'm lost to the wonders of God within...

And I sing...and I dance over and over again
Rejoice...smile...in the sound of being awake
Living for that moment as my fleeing soul ran
And I'm glad of all that life can take and make

There's a path for everyone I see and know
My path has been short but worthy indeed
I have lived my life seeing our journey's show
That is all my heart desired and all I need...

To sing, to dance, to cry to the Lord above
To cherish, every precious moment of love
Those, unlike me, don't know what they are missing
Cause when you're dying, everything is worth feeling

I really like the message of hope you're expressing. It's so true, and I loved the way you wrote it. My favorite stanza was the fourth one, I don't know why, it just made me think about it.

    Great job!

That is cool. It had a balance of sorrow from a difficult situation at beginning with the positive life message at the end. There is time in writing and in life for both sorrow and joy. It is good to have a postive few of embracing to life when you are in difficult situations that might mean you won't live so long. A movie that really displays this similar message is "A Walk To Remember." When your time on earth is limited your best bet is to give life all you've got and make the strongest impact possible while you still can. A saying that I dear friend of mine always said to me:

"Live everyday like it's your last, because one day, you'll be right."

[I loved those lines, Noni. They were so touching. gosh.]

This poem was beautiful. There's no other way to describe it. It was touching, heartfelt, the emotions were great, your vocab, flow, rhyming. Everything was great. Keep it up! 5/5
