Read it and weep

by David Marshall   Aug 13, 2006

They want something new,
A poem not so sad.
I don't know about you,
but my life sucks bad.

you want happy,
Believe me I've tried.
my poems may be crappy,
But not once have I lied.

These are my feelings,
every word true.
It's all I have,
to share with you.

if you want happy,
look another way.
Forget about me,
and live another day.

I'm not worried about style,
Or how good it flows.
I'm worried about my sorrow,
and the way it grows.

So don't correct,
Just comfort me.
Show some respect,
show sympathy.

Do you think I write,
just for your pleasure?
Think again,
this is my treasure.

when you read my work,
what do you see?
Am I a selfish jerk?
Or do you feel sorry for me?

I understand,
to you I'm unknown.
But you have to know,
what it's like to be alone.

Read it and weep,
my words cut deep,
try walking in my shoes,
with your own feet,

I really like this one. It shows ambition and truth of who you are and that you don't care of what others think. good job.

I wish I could say something but I'm completely speechless...Literally speechless...It's a breath-taking poem. I don't care what your poems are about, or how happy or sad they are...They are amazing no matter what.

Been there, done that... Not walked in your shoes. But have put callused ones in mine. I will tell you this, Write what you feel. If you try to write what other people like you'll end up giving lip service to things that aren't real.

If your life sucks and you use poetry to express it then more power to you.
