Love is Bittersweet

by Melissa S. Masucci   Aug 17, 2006

Love is bittersweet
when you get what you give,
and you don't always give
what you should.

The pain of a lonely night
isn't easily comprehended,
until it's your turn
to sit by the phone and cry.

Tomorrow approaches,
and love's distant face
will visit, yet you wonder
if it should even bother anymore.

You think you've found
the last one you'll ever need,
but can you withstand
the pain you never wanted.

The daily yearning
for a distant love,
with faults that madden
but you love just the same.

A constant pain endured
for that fleeting moment,
in hopes that someday
you'll never say goodbye again.

But tonight, depression.
A pair of eyes full of tears,
For love is bittersweet
when you get what you give.

[Written in the heat of the moment, so it's not going to be grade A quality. Just do me a favor and don't even rate it if you're gonna be too harsh, I didn't post it here for the rating, I just needed to write something and get it visible.]
