Waiting for Oblivion

by Jemma   Aug 24, 2006

I am stuck here
Stretched across infinity
Seeking oblivion
Total annihilation
An end to everything

How can forever darkness
Be worse that this deceiving light?
Because everyone forgets
It's all an illusion
One playing for eternity

I see them scurrying around
Huddling away from the rain
Trying to cheat the weather
You shall freeze in the end
Everything will

The end is a long way away
I wish it were sooner
To see the marching lanterns
Just to know I'm moving
Not just standing eternally still

They pass by and leave me behind
For them it's a short sweet taste of life
But I am condemned to time without end
It is no longer precious to me
I can see the darkness in the light

Such punishment waits if you drop your guard
A game of chances
One wrong move and you're out
And you can't get back in
Then you've met an end
And yet though I blunder through I'm still here, waiting
Everything is always forgotten
You forger your false starts, your false ends
All lost in one moment
While I continue to await the darkness
With the reassurance of night
