His Silence Made Me Cry

by Sarah Ann   Sep 3, 2006

I wouldn't have cried as much
If he kicked me out the door
My heart wouldn't be breaking
If he yelled at me some more

I wouldn't have hurt as much
If he forgave my mistake
Maybe I wouldn't feel so lost
If I wasn't left to break

I wouldn't have begged as much
For a desperate second chance
My lips wouldn't have betrayed me
But his feet refused to dance

His silence filled my empty heart
In contribution, my soul has died
If he uttered even one single word
Perhaps, I never would have cried

Wow, this poem left me speechless. It's a truly fantastic poem. You're a very talented writer. I love the way you take real things and write about them figuratively...not necessarily this poem but some of your other poems, great work! =)
