That One Day

by twisted reality   Sep 4, 2006

The tears stream down my face,
As I hear those horrifying words.
Something happened not too long ago,
That horrible event occurred.

Let me tell you about that day,
The day all had foundered in my life.
It was not so long ago,
And it came so unexpectedly.

The sirens still ring in my mind,
And the screams were unbearable.
There was nothing I could do,
To save a one true loved.

My heart skipped a few beats,
As I heard that doctor declare,
That he had perished,
From a heart failure in his sleep.

His son had told me that one night,
And I wept with him until he was alright.
He was a total loss,
To everyone he knew and loved.

The thing is my dears...
He treated me like I was his.
He put me above everything else.
Above everyone else, he did.

He listened to my issues,
And help me get them through.
Oh dear Richard,
We will all miss you.

The day of the funeral came.
The black and the grey,
The tissues in their cold hands,
The weeping faces held so low.

Although, before I do go on,
I should probably tell you about me.
I'm just an average girl, in need of some love.
Strong, willful, wonderful love.

I'm the kind of girl who hides her feelings,
Who comforts those who need to be.
They never know how I really feel.
Maybe I should just let it all out.

Now, with that being said,
You never would've guessed.
That I had tears streaming down my face,
In loving memory of him.

The burying finally came,
With flowers and tissues galore.
They lowered his body into the ground,
And recited his Epitaph.

The priest then came.
Said words of good-bye.
And tried to comfort his loving wife,
While she wept uncontrollably.

I stayed longer with his family,
While all the others left.
And I tried to read through my tears,
What exactly his gravestone said.

"My Dear Friends as You Pass By
As You are Now, So Once Was I.
As I am Now, You Soon Must Be.
Prepare Yourselves to Follow Me."

He is gone now, never to return,
And I will never see his loving face again.
For he is with the Lord now,
In safe and gentle hands.

So now you know the story of,
Richard's life he wonderfully loved.
Until that day, when he foundered,
He was loved in many ways.

**-sob- Ok. This is a true 'story' I guess you could call it lol. My friends' dad died not very long ago, and I don\'t usually get emotional, so this was a big deal for me. I needed to get it out. It's also a new style for me. It's supposed to sound like a story, so don't ask lol. Hope you all like it. Please tell me what you think, as it's a new style I've tried. Thanks!**

The flow is REALLY off here, it just doesn't flow well at all.

I do understand the meaning, though; and you're right, this is definitely a story poem. A GOOD story poem, to be more exact.
