Famous Poets

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 4, 2006

Give us excellence we will remember your name
Turn thoughts and words to gold to get your fame
Rest in your reason, but move in your passion
Master your fine craft forever in fashion

Pen, paper, and words are your only tools
To impress the wise men and the fated fools
Who have the noble and most worthy goal
To borrow a tiny little piece of your soul

When written words pass the test of time
Hearts beat in rhythm with the best of rhyme
Breaking the boundaries set by the ages
Teasing the traditions by turning the pages

To reach your envied rank in literature
Your skill must confound the connoisseur
Profoundness that is pondered and appreciated
Esoteric in nature it is not easily duplicated

Successful poets are rarely inspired by greed
Fame and fortune is not what they really need
As the priest needs faithfulness and piety
A famous poet needs a poetical society

It just stood out to me. How many of mine did you read because I logged out and couldn't check. I'll do them as soon as I know.

Another excellent write! I loved the topic, so true. Your vocabulary is so good, and you put together the poem so well, that it seemed flawless, and it is. Keep it up!

So true it is, So true it is. We poets have a name and a goal to express to those who want to listen. Great poem!
