Frozen lullaby

by Kim   Sep 16, 2006

"Dance with me my young one"
Whispered the warm inviting wind
"Hopes and dreams fall from the skies
As faith comes billowing in"

"Sing with me my sweet one"
Rang a voice throughout the breeze
"I am your truth, I am your thoughts
Your only reason to please"

"Smile with me my innocent one
Careless, new to the world"
Chanted the wind with a grin
"You're a leaf, as yet unfurled"

"Shiver from me my jaded one
Time has saddened your soul"
The wind smiled deviously
"I'll never make you whole"

"Learn from me my broken one"
Intoned the forbidding voice
"Twists and turns lie everywhere
You never had a choice"

"Shy from me my tortured one
Know how love has passed you by
This is fate, not my fault"
Sang the frozen lullaby

Superb!! I really enjoyed this piece. Your words are wonderfully crafted, imagery is superb and the overall feel of the poem was cold and chilling. Congratulations to you on this outstanding piece!!!

A very well written piece; the descriptions and imager ywere amazing. However, the only thing I would suggest is to put quotation marks on the lines where someone or something is speaking. Like
"Dance with me my young one,"
    Whispered the warm inviting wind.

And add some punctuation. It just makes it easier to read and adds an effect :)

Kim A very well written poem your choice of words and imagery is excemplary I would love to give a complete critique of this poem but I find myself not wnating to change anything, the only thing I can say is my own preference but I find struggling with poems that have ryming stanzas mixed with free form but I think this may be just me. Again a very well done piece.
