The Darkness Around Me

by Vic   Sep 19, 2006

Circles I'm running
Alone in the dark.
Gone mad I must have;
Raving and stark.

Looking and searching
In this endless abyss.
Reason is lost to me,
Disappeared in a wisp.

Climbing a staircase,
White among black.
But for every step forward
I take two steps back.

Every doorway I enter,
I find I have wronged.
My time in the darkness
Has again been prolonged.

This puzzle my master,
Difficulty knows no match.
Over the years
More bonds are attached.

Weighted by burdens
No help in the struggle.
Efforts to freedom futile,
Actions quickly humbled.

Shouting for a savior,
Echoes only reply.
I'm left helpless, alone,
World oblivious to my cries.
