The Mirror

by John Jenkins   Sep 23, 2006

On the wall hangs a broken mirror.
As I gaze upon it, things couldn't be clearer.

Over and over I notice this face.
One of such disgrace, that I wish I could erase.

I see a shattered dream,
And a broken self esteem.

On his knees he cries,
Face buried in hands, he will never arise.

I see a man with many flaws,
Whose life is lived without a cause.

He's lying on the floor,
He can't take anymore.

He has a broken heart,
And like the mirror, he has fallen apart.

Wow, very nice. I was actually considering writing a poem along these lines as well, though I noticed some of the lines you wrote were the same ones I was going to use, lol. I still might write it, who knows.

What I liked about this poem was you compared a man to a mirror..thats really different to other mirror poems I've read! I definatly liked it!!
I thought some parts were a little off balance but overall I did really enjoy the read!!
    Keep it up!
