Dearly beloved...

by Fairytales   Oct 8, 2006

Dearly beloved,
We're gathered here today,
to mourn the people who, like many others,
couldn't find the joy of living,
even in their sisters and brothers,

We're here to mourn the many people,
who life has been hard on,
and now can rest in peace,
now that they're gone,

Dearly beloved,
in front of us lies this girl,
who is one of the many,
who, because of love,
didn't make it past twenty,

This girl who so many people
have caused her pain,
Her heart, so cold and broken,
they'll now look back in shame,

Dearly beloved,
we're gathered here today,
to mourn the heartbroken,
knowing that they could have been saved,
but there were too many words unspoken,

Dearly beloved,
We're gathered here today,
for this girl with so much doubt,
who, like many others,
found death the only way out.

Omigoodness!! I was intrigued by the title and figured I would read it. I loved the way you told the story through the eyes of the priest who is holding the funeral for the girl.. It is very sad. I really appreciate the comment you left me! Thanks!!
