Little Boy...Little Man

by Twisted Heart   Oct 18, 2006

Was it not just yesterday when I held you in my arms
When your favorite breakfast was a bowl of Lucky Charms
When you would whisper secrets in my waiting ears
And was it just your laughter that led me all those years
Do you still remember, how I read to you each night
The love you gave so freely, was the pinch of sheer delight.
Upon my lap you cuddled when you needed special care
And in my bed on stormy nights, I'd always find you there.

Has time erased the magic that I thought would never leave
When you wore the love you felt upon you dirty sleeves
Pockets full of treasures, from your day out in the yard
Escaping dragon masters, and the games you played so hard
Big wheels, trucks and fire engines, have lost their once appeal
Forgotten in the memories that somehow seem surreal.
When playing or when dreaming, you found your comfort zone
And as the day drew to an end, you'd find your way back home.

Into my arms you'd come running with such happiness around
Your mind an ageless wonder with the answers that you found.
What happened to the little boy, who dared to take a stand
Why, there you are, you've grown into, quite a little man.

    Jpoet,

My son could go outside and within 10 minutes be covered in dirt. And his sleeves were the worst.

He was the ultimate dirt magnat, even sitting on the porch swing not doing anything. It would find him, and attach itself faaster than bees to honey.

That's what I meant. Sorry to those who don't know my son.

    Happiness
    Jeannie
