One Choice

by .K.i.T.t.Y.   Nov 20, 2006

Cowering in a corner,
So neglected and decrepit,
Sat an undecided,
Quiet human,
Unsure of how to respond.

Objection to either side,
Lies a dangerous path,
Whether it be physical,
Or mental harm.

The response that could kill a soul,
Or save a life.
It's a state of uncertainty
That this man has entered.

Which side shall he take?
The side of violence,
Or the side of just?
It is left for only him to decide.

As the others go their ways,
He is left here undetermined,
Until the time he comes to his senses,
And he rises,
And realizes,
That it is time
To make up his mind.

As he rises silently,
He joins the excitement,
The posse for hanging.
The gang of violence.

Following his companion,
Into this frenzy,
He has second thoughts,
And keeps glancing back,
But soon learns,
That what he chose is final.

Despite the feeling,
He holds against death,
(By lynching...)

(NOTE: THIS POEM WAS DONE AS A PROJECT FOR A RESPONSE TO PART OF A BOOK. HENCE THE LYNCHING PART. THAT IS JUST SO YOU KNOW. BUT I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS RELATED TO OTHER THINGS AS WELL. FOR EXAMPLE, THE PEER PRESSURE WE MAY FACE IN LIFE, EVEN THOUGH IT MAY NOT BE AS HARSH.)
