It's What Made Us Closer

by .K.i.T.t.Y.   Dec 7, 2006

The child's soul,
Bruised and shattered,
Holding onto what little he has.

He's straining for light,
Trying to move on with life,
But soon giving up,
Believing that no one cares.
(Not knowing he had someone,
Holding back what she felt.)

He wore a mask,
Faking every smile,
Covering up the pain,
Secretly hidden within his sleeves.

But one day,
His scars were revealed,
And the news reached the ears
Of the girl that cared.

She wanted to disbelieve
What she heard,
Wanted to push the words away,
But she couldn't,
She has to face the truth,
While holding back tears.

The frightened child,
Walked towards the boy,
And sat down by him,
Looking deeply into his eyes.

She finally understood
The look in his eyes:
Pure pain,
Gnawing away at his soul.

She asked him why,
He would do such a thing,
Why would he hurt himself?
(And her too.)

He just shrugged,
And looked away.
The girl,
Hurt,
Got up and walked away.

But before she left,
She gave him a hug,
Even though he rejected it,
Unknowingly hurting her too.
