Arrogant Mother, Broken Child

by Sarah Ann   Dec 19, 2006

Of the miseries uncounted
Of atrocities galore,
Mother, you have faulted greatly
Now a victim of your war.

And her paintings were true beauty
A portrayal of pure faith
"Mommy! Mom, look what I drew!"
"Oh honey, move I'm running late."

Another night a tear is streaking
Purple eye shadow; puffy face
Even the dress-up stilettos she once wore
Make her feel so out of place

And yet she runs her mother's way
Takes comfort in her everyday
One day perhaps, mother will see
Her little girl in desperate need.

Junior-high comes,
Sweet, frequent drama
Will she intervene?
Mom doesn't bother.

Peer-pressure threatens her daughter's life
Through staying strong it's hard to fight
And heartbroken instants come frequently
The young girl cries, to her she pleas

And hard times come,
All bright days fade.
This daughter gave up anyway.

Miss business woman is arrogant.
Can't listen.
In name her portrait rings and glistens
Inside her heart is built of stone
Where the truth of love is soft,
Unknown.

And hard times come,
All bright days fade.
This daughter gave up anyway.

This is great excellent write. This poem shows that a mother must balance her work and family. By putting her true job first, being a mom.

Oh wow! So sad and yet it is true for some. I was lucky when it came to a good mother. I feel bad for kids who have parents that act like they are not there. Very sad poem.
