Divided

by Dan Ryan   Jan 2, 2007

I used to think I was immune to you
I used to think I was better alone
The denials I hear sound better than the truth
But they wont stand on their own

I can't leave you alone in the dark
Where I know you share my pain
The memory of you is fading
And I don't want to forget you again

There's nothing but what's under the surface
Everything in your line of sight making you wiser to me
Listening quietly and always measuring
In your every glance I find a little honesty

What sentiment could I voice
That would express the way I feel
Is it enough to forget yourself
And go in head over heels

Is it enough to follow your heart
Wherever it leads you
Before you even know where to begin
Throw all caution into the wind

The denials I hear sound better than the truth
But they wont stand on their own

So those are my fav. lines of this poem. Man, there are so many times I wish a situation could work one way, but when you face reality, it just can't. This was really good.

Is it enough to forget yourself
And go in head over heels

^ I also wish those lines were true and ppl could really do that, but then we find ourselves doing things motivated by our emotional response and that's not necessarily the right choice, so I can relate to that too. LOL I pray these comments make sense to you. :)

This is good. I liked the way it flowed, even though it doesn't really rhyme. Great job though! 5/5 definitely.
