No one stays the same

by PoetryHeart   Jan 8, 2007

The little girl was happy
Father a lawyer, Mom a teacher
But no one would suspect
what would bestow upon her

One day they got a call
Father, he had died
But not because of this
were her tears cried

Mother went insane
hitting and beating
the poor little girl
was left with so much grieving

But she stayed strong,
though it was tough
her mother was beating her
and wanted her led away in cuffs.

One day mother took a knife
and a gun
told the girl they would play a little game
it would be so much fun

a scream and a shot
was heard that dreadful day
mother dropped her weapons
and waited for her memory to fade away

She died screaming her terror
confessing all the pain
though nothing lasts forever
and no one stays the same.

The flow was a bit stilted at times but the sheer emotion and power of the words carried it through.
