A model story

by Cherise   Jan 15, 2007

She's on the cover because she is young
She's on the cover because she is tall
She's on the cover because her eyes are wide
and her waist is so small.

She's on the cover because she has perfect cheek bones
She's on the cover because she can walk in heels so high
She's on the cover because she takes a size 3
and weighs under 125.

She wishes she could eat
she wishes she could sleep
she wishes she could go home
and not have to feel so alone.

She wishes she could laugh
she wishes she could smile
She wishes she could stop standing up
and sit down for a while.

She wants to be seen
she wants to be heard
Not because of her emotionless face
but for each and every word.

She wants to be with someone
she wants to be loved
she wants someone to lay next to her
and watch the lonely stars above.

She can't remember
she can't think
She can't even lift her head up
and clean the vomit out of the sink.

She can't stop
she can't break the contract or be dropped
She can't leave

she must stay on the covers.
and forever be dressed by others.

This was an ok poem, the repetitive lines were a bit too much, but it was still an enjoyable poem.

This was a great piece. So true, and the fact that it is true is honestly heart breaking. I can't even pick a favorite stanza or couplet, it was just too good to pick it apart. Absolutely extraordinary job on this piece. *5/5
