Portrait in words

by dragonfly   Jan 18, 2007

Her curly dark red hair is swept back in a messy ponytail. Not even making an effort, her beauty still shimmers around her. Her peachy complexion is specked with a few random freckles. Looking upon her, my gaze quickly sets with her gleaming cerulean eyes, a distinct trademark of my mothers side. Small dimples appear at the corners of her mouth when she smiles, and no one truly knows just how much that warms my heart. Her mouth is small but its hard to tell with her chattering so much and her voice, its beautiful. I use to tell her it was annoying but I actually loved to hear her sing, its so melodious and calming. Her petite body compliments her nicely. It is her stubborn mind that escapes most at first glance, although she uses it wisely. Dont mistake her to be arrogant for it is because of her that I have dealt with life. She is an amazing person and uses her obstinate mind and loving heart to protect those she cares about. We have our fair share of differences and yet, when I look to my side, she is standing there always waiting to lend a hand. It was her that I went to when our parents fights kept us awake at night and it was her that I trusted to curl up next to and cry with as the flashing lights pulled up to the house. The first person I trusted with my tears and among few she trusts with hers. She is a beautiful person inside and out, and when I see her cry my mind fills with sorrow, I only wish for her to be happy. We always stick up for each other, even if she is mad at me she still defends me, and I her. She is my sister and one of my best friends. I can tell her things knowing she will hold no judgement against me and even though we may not live under the same roof any more we have not distanced each other if anything we have only grown closer.

this is about my sis, i wrote it in a creative writing class

That's a lovely piece! I'm glad you appreciate your bond between you and your sister. I wish I had a sister =(. Anyway, I thought the structure was interesting and nice choice of words. Very good job!
