Lonliness

by dragonfly   Jan 18, 2007

Loneliness is the color of a stormy night sky

It sounds like the soft whisper of the wind

And tastes like unleavened bread.

It smells like the fancy dinner left uneaten on the table.

It looks like a child sitting alone in the grass.

In makes me feel neglected.

Loneliness is the color of a murky green lake on a calm day

It sounds like the tears of a mother at her childs funeral,

And it taste like a cake lacking sugar.

It smells like the dusty room forgotten behind a locked door.

It looks like a lone bird perched on the telephone wire.

It makes me feel hopeless.

Loneliness is the color of the shadows in a dark alley

It sounds like the whimpering of a baby someone discovered in the dumpster

And it taste like stale crackers.

It smells like the musty water near a swamp.

It looks like the puppy found in a box along the street.

It makes me feel abandoned.

And I thank god everyday that I am not alone.
