Loyalty to a cause

by Independence Forever   Jan 30, 2007

Our colonel is down, help is not found
behind enemy lines we are bound

he fell and we miss his orders
the enemy surrounded our borders

we must fight on and win the battle
we didn't care when he treated us like cattle

we made a stretcher, six men his pallbearers
the fire is among us none the worse for wearer

he lays there silent forever
we cannot but forge ahead moreover

run through the jungle, the sand, and the fields
through hostile territory as our colonel's shields

when we make it out we will burry our leader
someone of us will get up and be our speaker

a eulogy then at funeral will be read
the colonel would do as much in our stead

but till then we charge on to our death it seems
we never pictured this, not in our wildest dreams
