Like Skeletons, We Lived

by LadyPearl   Feb 3, 2007

The footsteps of my fathers,
stain red beneath our tears.
March onward till you wither,
Till days morph into years.

Even hope has lost its value,
When stared into the eyes.
And faith swept under darkness,
When Heaven itself dies.

The gunshots are like my bells,
Cold and hard at the sound.
So harsh my body shivers,
Along with the ashened ground.

Large mounds of previous friends--
seen as nothing but sad fate,
No love, no heart for memories,
or deathly faces await.

I really liked this. The subject is very touching, and I liked the originality. I'm really impressed with how flawless your rhyming is and how your language (i.e. the words you chose) fit in perfectly with the rhythm and the idea. In fact I'm almost jealous lol. nice work
