DedicatiOn -- MemOry fOr yOu

by Danielle   Apr 5, 2004

White blocks sticking up
from the green pasteur ground
it's such a peaceful journey
as I slowly walk around

You can almost hear the screams
As the thousands of soldiers died
They're bodies left for dead
As the whole world cried

I cry as I look to see a stone
A 14-year-old boy, dying all alone

Out on the battlefields
Not knowing why hes there
Fighting for his country
Is all he seems to care?

My mom sits to watch
A soldier play taps
For an unknown POW
The rhythm of the raps

Id never saw such a thing
Such joy to be fufilled
No one moved a single inch
Until the music was still

We walk further more
Looking to see
The eternal flame of JFK
Still lit in his memory

He loved our country dearly
As everyone bowed in tears
All crying for this man
Who died with no fears

A single tear fell from my eye
It dropped with no sound
A flower will grow in its place
Of the memory all around

About my trip to DC...

hi honey I missed you a lot I didn't you changed your name on here but I guess it's still you, the great writer :) I liked this poem a lot and you're right, we should always honor the soldiers who are defending our land even though I have totally different opinion about this whole war thing ..... first of all we shouldn't interfere from the beginning and I'm not gonna talk about it cuz I can go on forever, but very nicely written :)
