Walking Away

by TalkItOutInTheRain   Feb 16, 2007

Tell me, were you surprised,
When you found a scribbled note
Lying on our bed.
My message was clear,
The unmistakable script
Telling you, to go to hell.

Tell me, did you think,
That I did not know,
Where you stopped off,
Before coming home,
You never worked late,
That story got old.

Tell me, did you know,
One day I would go,
Pack up and leave our life behind,
I left no trace,
I will never come home,
And honey, me you will never find.

I took the bed sheets,
With tears on my cheeks,
Just because they smell of you,
The way our house does too,
But no matter how much I once loved you,
I am never coming home.

You lied and you cheated,
Too long it went on,
One day you came home,
And I was long gone.
Days later I phone,
To find you are not home.
She is though.

I have cut all my ties,
Moved on with my life,
I am happy, young and free.
But I did not say,
In my note on that day,
That someone else loved me.
