My Everwinding Path

by ben thompson   Feb 17, 2007

Scarlet leaves encircle my ever winding path.
Breezes threaten to cover with every draft.

Crisp autumn air invokes thoughts of days past.
Your plastic facade of lies when you said we'd last.

Once upon a time I thought your fables were true.
But a turn of events brought you true colors through.

How many times did you go behind my back.
I realize now I ll never know the answer to that.

I'll build new memories as light brings back the day.
A new dawn on the horizon, happiness returns to stay.

And before those scarlet leaves cover my storied path.
I'll share time with my family, our love shall forever last.
