Best Friends

by ben thompson   Feb 18, 2007

We were never blinded by all the ignorance around.
Some shot evil glares, undaunted we marched without sound.

True friendship is a bond that can't be crossed.
We had each others backs, come any cost.

The only person I could trust for so many years.
We both felt pressure, spurned by our peers.

In high school hoodlums got really rough.
He was my crutch, from him I learned to be tough.

Now we're grown and he's the best man I know.
He is my brother, we have different mothers though.

We both handle our business like real men should.
I'd like to spend more time with my boy if I could.

But we're still just as close as we were back then.
I'm white and he's black, what does color matter in the end.

Nice dedication to your friend and a nice message too about color not mattering. Good people come in all colors and those who don't believe that are the ones missing out. Nice job!
