Laughing Stock

by Skye Mangual   Mar 2, 2007

Tears taunt my lonely skin,
laughing at me with no remorse for my pain within.
My weakness for you is my honey layered downfall,
loving you seems to cause naught but pain for all.

My heart breaks as it teases me with each shattered beat,
chuckling cruelly at the pain I can not defeat.
I wither away as I long for you to take a step toward me,
to close this distance between us , to love me and adore me.
If I stay I feel pain, to leave- be happy I won't,
I break either way, damned if I do, damned if I don't.

My flesh laughs in irony as I long for your embrace,
a quiet kiss, a silent hug, a mere touch upon my face.
You’re my bittersweet memory that tortures my every wake,
the lovely nightmare that captures my every sleep I take.

My empty soul points and giggles as I can't let you go,
seeing me fail at forgetting you,
I never will, I know.
You're essence is tattooed on my body, your love sewed into my heart,
if forgetting you was easy, I wouldn't have remembered from the start.
