To Be a Man

by ben thompson   Mar 17, 2007

I've weathered many storms when others ran away.
I've fought fear in my heart and willed myself to stay.

I've been kicked countless times and always got back up.
I've seen the struggling homeless on corners shaking their cups.

Their are many trials face on the way to being a man.
Many boys are forced to grow up before they fully understand.

Its a right of passage when presented to us we must except.
A burden we must stand, or be drug down to the depths.

My weary bones scream in constant agony all the time.
But my courage causes me to dig in deep and get right back in line.

To be a man requires an unbreakable will, as well as a warrior soul.
Many both great and small have succumb to the world's heavy toll.

To be a man is to be true to your word like the bond of forged steel.
Being a man sometimes requires us to ignore and not to feel.

Because even steel can be melt down under enough heat and fire.
And even the mightiest men can sometimes be consumed by the fire.

    Ben
What a great write. Society expects so much from men. You have a heavy burden to carry. You have done it with integrity, compassion, and are very much respected.

Their are many trials face on the way to being a man.
Many boys are forced to grow up before they fully understand.

This is so true. You will be blessed for all you do.
    Always in my Prayers
    Love Cindy
