Love Is Overrated

by Gem   Apr 4, 2007

Love is overrated
It's never how it seems
You convince yourself you're happy
But it's just another dream

You don't know how to tell him
You don't feel the same way
When he asks if you're alright
You lie, every things OK

What are you supposed to do
When the magic disappears
When the only thing he gives you
Are insecurities and fears

He has simply no idea
On the way he makes you feel
You can't believe you ever thought
This love was really real

You wish with all your heart
Things were like they were before
But the way that things are going
You're being driven to the door

Love is overrated
Of that there is no doubt
But you need to have a broken heart
Before you find it out!

This was freaky Gem. I just wrote him a poem over a week ago saying that the magic is lost and how I wish things were like before.
    Great poem.

I've been away for a week and looks like I have so much to catch up on - I'll be back.
Thanks for all your comments and advice on my poems.

    I LOVE this!!
That ending blew me away, it was beautifully written and had so much impact.
Flow was flawless, imagery created vivid pictures. You did a great job with this!

I hope you don't feel that way in life right now :S. Well, if the answer is yes or no, I still say this poem is great. Like what Cindy said, most love poems are about people loving others, but this one is opposite. Great job, keep on writing.
