Can't Be Love

by Gem   Apr 13, 2007

You get so many couples
Raving about 'true' love
Saying that their other halves
Are gifts sent from above

But you know deep inside
That their putting on an act
Cos the minute they meet someone else
Their 'true' love is sacked

And now all of a sudden
It's the new partner that's true
And seconds into the first date
They exchange their 'I love you's"

But you know that a week later
They will want somone fresh
And their new 'true' love relationship
Is down the drain and laid to rest

They all say that their in love
Right from the very start
But they can't be cos true love lasts
When it comes deep from the heart

(Just getting a bit tired of all the kiddie-winks saying, "Oh i love him so much! He's so hot!" Get a clue.. for the love of God, get a clue!!)

Definitely true...you have a way with making the truth flow, girl, good job!

~~but i dont care what you say...I do love him. His name is Marcus, for crying out loud (and yes, Gem, you do agree with me...remind me to send you a pic)

Omg, you had me cracking up by your footnote! Haha. Nice one, Gem. =)

I know what you're trying to say, but this is how reality is at the present moment. It seems like people nowadays are taking love for granted in order to satisfy their own selfish pleasures. I know, we cannot change a person's heart and mind; but perhaps we can make a difference by making them REALIZE this flaw through this wonderful piece.
    Kudos' :D

Oh deart Gem someone ones a bit snappy :)
I know what you mean but you have to remember love is only valued after years of failed relationship then do you trully realise what you have and what is worth fighting for :) the young kiddies have no idea as they dont know what love is :) i love the poem and you're right ;) 99/5

That was great and dead on. I've been reading too many of those poems and its a bit ridiculous. True love comes from deep within and yet it can be just as painful.
    Marvelous. I loved it.

Lmao Gem. =] To me, that has got to be one of your best poems ever.
And the sad thing is, all of what you said is true. The flow was flawless, I loved the humor within the poem and the truth, and the word usage was great. Fantastic write, keep it up! 5/5
