Broken Memories [No longer STEP siblings, but friends forever]

My mind keeps screaming out remember, 'never gone'
My heart softly whispers much more like forever gone
We keep trying to maintain this image of what used to be
But if you take a look I think that you will finally see
We've gone through our stupid fights and our pains
Thinking we would be strong, but not much of us remains

We used to be together, a happy family overall
But that is now leaving, it started to change last fall
I think that in our hearts we knew it was coming
From this final fate we can no longer keep running
Though we may like to keep on happy faces outside
I think that we are all feeling this on the inside

The people are not gone, no one is actually dead
Except for the bond we used to share, it has left
It's not to say we cannot be friends I know we can
But for too long from this fate we have now ran
The storm is approaching faster than ever before
The writing is there, on every wall and every door

It says that our little 'never gone' was just a song
That we should start thinking in terms of forever gone
Because what we used to have will never be back
All the times we shared and memories are in the past
But there is something I forgot to say in this write
That the future for all of us should still look bright
For while all those memories have faded away
I know we will make new ones with each passing day

Stop trying to keep holding on to the fragile past
We all need to understand that stuff will never last
So no, we are not 'STEP siblings' or anything akin
But that doesn't mean that we all should cave in!
We are we are, not who we used to be back then
But that certainly doesn't mean we cannot be friends!

The times we have shared and the tears we cried
The truths we have told and the times we have lied
All need to be put behind us, let's move on along
We can't keep on singing our same old songs
So no we are not who we used to be back then
We are better, we are different, but we ARE friends
And this we shall be forever in our hearts
Not time, distance, or broken memories can tear us apart.
