Then I Called on Jesus

I was Disheartened
There was no way out,
The problems that I was facing were really profound.
I searched for my friends,
But they were nowhere to be found.
I felt as if my world was turning upside down.

I called on my family,
But they didn't care about me,
They all had their own tribulations,
And had not a moment in time for me

I took refuge in a guy,
But he used and abused me,
For he only wanted my body,
He didn't really want me.

I turned to pills
For I was ready to die,
I thought that the solution to my problems was suicide.
So I popped open the pill concocter,
And took one pill after the other.
Am I going to hell? The thoughts went flying
I felt really weak in my knees, for I was slowly dying.

Then I called on Jesus,
The only other name I knew.
I didn't know what to pray,
Neither could I find the words to say.
But He heard my silent prayer,
He understood the words that I did not utter.

He said "Come my Child,
I will show you the Right Way."
He took me out of the darkness
And brought me into his luminosity,
I then knew that there was going to be a better day.
He changed my life
I was made brand new.

He made me into
A beacon of light,
A bridge of understanding,
A tower of integrity,
And
A castle of realized dreams.

N.B. This is by far my favourite poem, I love it due to the fact that it is very personal and is based on actual events. It also marks a turning point in my life..
