Broken

by Dennis   Aug 16, 2007

She looks out her window
As the shadows close in around her
She is trapped in a world
No longer her own

The place she calls home is now a hell
Of fiery words and dark thoughts
She tries to find her way
But stumbles in the dark

Every morning she wakes up
To the cruelty of another day
Some days she just wants to run away
Leaving all her problems behind

The torment is unbearable
As she walks through the halls of her prison
A world based on beauty and popularity
Their judgment is harsh

She looks out her window
As the shadows close in around her
Her life is but a broken dream
A broken heart...a broken spirit

This poem shows discontent, anger, sadness and emptiness. All a complex mixture of depressive feelings. I know how it is to cry out inside of you when you are mute, when you feel trapped in a world that spins without an answer, enslaved by a system. It is very insightful and descriptive

Life is such an endless battle, full of questions that sometimes have no answer. This poem says a great deal, if one looks deeply enough at the words! Love Erika 5/5
