Pen Pain

by Jenni Marie   Oct 8, 2007

Sometimes in this life I'm overwhelmed
By the suffering I've felt, misery and pain
Feeling like there's not a soul to turn to
Like there's nothing left, nothing to gain

Not knowing how to show these feelings
Sitting silently alone, all by myself
Don't have any clue how to talk of this
To afraid to ask for someone's help

So I'll listen silently to soothing music
Placing a pen and paper in my hand
Countless words filling line after line
Knowing one day, people will understand

Heart slowing once more to a steady pace
Even as teardrops splatter page after page
This ink and paper have become my salvation
Releasing all of the hurt, misery and rage

Sometimes feeling so out of my depth
Like there's nothing left, nothing to gain
So I'll place pen and paper in my hand
And let the pen release all of the pain
