Last Anniversary

by ben thompson   Dec 16, 2007

Our last anniversary we sit holding one another's fragile hands.
Staring in you're sparkling eyes, I near the end of time's sands.

Long years and fond memories they flew by us oh so fast.
Thinking back to our first kiss, knowing our hearts would last.

Fifty years passed, my feeble legs don't work so well anymore.
Hunched over, hobbled by years you can barely sweep the floor.

But true love has carried us through days both good and bad.
Sometimes in our darkest hours we were all each other had.

Never to be wealthy beyond all of our wildest dreams.
Happy just to be together even when times were lean.

My beautiful soul-mate shed no tears, for now is my time to die.
Fear not our last anniversary, we'll meet again in the Lord's sky.
